How often do we consider the significance of inanimate objects? Do they have consciousness, a soul, or some depth of existence we cannot begin to realise? Living where I do in the rugged tablelands of the Blue Mountains I am often confronted with the awe-inspiring beauty of the landscape and I have cause to reflect on the nature or essence of the landscape: its timelessness, scale and the provoking thoughts of consciousness involved with the landscape.
Rocks and formations are attributed names so we can personalise them and have them more easily recognisable. With this in mind I have named some of the objects Brutti Ma Buoni- (iced Italian biscuits). The phrase quirkily translates as ‘Ugly But Good’.
